First event debrief!
FIRST EVENT COMPLETE!
So how did it go?
We left Edinburgh at 0630, which was earlier than we had planned (everyone was happy with the timing). Leaving earlier made it so much easier to find a parking space for us when we got there and the roads were quieter.
We started the hike at around 0830, and straight away we were straight into an incline. The views the whole way up were absolutely incredible, with Loch Earn directly behind us, and as we climbed the rolling hills in the distance. It was fairly quiet with people going up the mountain which made plenty of room for the two mountain goats of our pack to speed off to the summit. The rest of us summited at the same time and once again the whole pack were reunited at the top, to stop for some snacks, photos and of course to take in the unbelievable views.
As we were coming down the mountain, it was clear to see that our decision to leave Edinburgh early was a good one, as the traffic of people going up the hill was a lot heavier than when we were going up. We all made it to the bottom in one piece and the total time was 4 hours 10 minutes (including stops) which was good as before we got there we were hoping to be up and down in 5 hours.
As promised, we put on a free BBQ for all that participated. As the BBQ was heating up we had two paddle boards for people to enjoy, and people were getting in the water to cool down from the hike. As well as a BBQ, we had some amazing cakes that were OG1N themed, made by a local small business 'Baking By M'. Everyone seemed to have a great time, which made it all the more worth while! There will definitely be another event hosted by us. The next event is going to be something different from a hike, but it will definitely be challenging and fun, so look out for that!
